Food reports · 7 October 2026 snapshot
What other food-report data can we use?
Our source audit separates useful evidence from data that cannot yet support a local claim.
| Data | What it can support | Status and limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Scran approved menus | Dish prices, labelled dietary choice, service and coverage reports | Used. Uneven venue coverage and mixed record dates; original sources linked. |
| Statistics Jersey RPI groups | Food and catering trends | Used under OGL Jersey. Aggregate household baskets, not named menu items. |
| ONS restaurant CPI | UK economic context | Used under OGL v3. UK geography only. |
| Food Standards Agency open ratings | Hygiene reports where the scheme covers the geography | Available data does not establish coverage or identity matches for these island venues. No ratings have been assigned. |
| Isle of Man planned hygiene scheme | Future local inspection reports | Official July 2026 announcement points to inspections starting in 2027. Do not treat planned ratings as current evidence. |
| Historical menu snapshots | Matched same-dish, same-size price changes | Needs stable identities, observation dates and documented changes. Repeated stored snapshots alone do not prove a price change. |
| Packaged-food nutrition databases | Packaged products with exact product identifiers | Cannot safely infer restaurant calories, allergens or nutrition from a similar dish name. Not joined. |
Reports we will not manufacture
There is no defensible island-wide cheapest restaurant, live wait time, verified allergy-safety ranking, restaurant carbon score or complete nutrition table in the current evidence. Those need new validated sources. Broader tourism and international inflation datasets are context, not a substitute for local menu observations.
